BEMIDJI - Courtney Anderson tossed a two-hit shutout and Megan Beard drove home the game-winning run to lead the BSU softball team to a 1-0 victory over UMD in the first game of Friday's doubleheader in Bemidji.
The Bulldogs gained revenge in the nightcap, however, as they posted a 10-0 victory.
Prior to Friday the Beavers hadn't beaten UMD since 1999.
Anderson allowed only three base runners in the first game and finished with 10 strikeouts.
Bemidji State broke the scoreless duel in the fifth when Beard's hit to right field plated Summer Monsrud who had singled.
The rematch was a different story, however, as the Bulldogs were able to get to the BSU pitching staff early after struggling in game one. Anderson also started on the Beaver mound but Duluth touched her for a run in the first inning and two in the second.
Anderson gave way to Allison Roberts to start the third and kept the Bulldogs off the board until the fifth when they scored two runs.
Beard led the BSU offense with three hits.
Bemidji State will be at Northern State on Wednesday.
