Beavers football: Bemidji St. ends season with 35-14 win at Minot
MINOT, N.D. — It took a full season, but the Bemidji State football team finally found a complete rhythm on both sides of the ball.
The Beavers gained 459 yards of total offense, senior running back Avery Walker rushed for 169 yards and four touchdowns and the BSU defense held Minot State to negative four yards rushing in a 35-14 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Herb Parker Stadium.
BSU (3-8) struck first on Walker’s 65-yard touchdown run in the first quarter but Minot (2-9) tied it later in the frame on Zac Cunha’s 6-yard pass to Leon LaDeaux.
BSU went into the locker room up 14-7 thanks to Walker’s second touchdown of the game, a 1-yard blast at the 7:09 mark of the quarter.
In the second half Walker had a 2-yard run in the third quarter and a 29-yard run in the fourth to give him four touchdowns on the day.
The effort marked Walker’s sixth 100-yard game and fourth 150-yard game of the season. He also became the first Beaver to record four touchdowns in a game since Tyler Olson scored four times against Minnesota Crookston, Sept. 23, 2006.
Juwaan Richard scored BSU’s other touchdown, a 40-yard catch from quarterback Ryan Shields with 15 seconds to go in the third quarter.
Shields went 15-for-28 passing for 169 yards and the touchdown. Senior Alex Hass also saw action and went 2-for-3 for 39 yards.
Seven different recievers caught passes for BSU, including Joran Noskowiak, who had six targets for 106 yards.
Minot’s Zac Cunha went 21-for-39 for 22 yards. He had two touchdowns but was also intercepted twice — once by BSU’s Larry Miller and another time by BSU’s Dylan Valentine.
