Beavers to face Mankato for 4
The Bemidji State University baseball team takes a 7-5 record into a doubleheader against Minnesota State Mankato at 5 p.m. today in the Metrodome.
The Beavers fell twice to St. Cloud State Saturday, losing 7-1 and 3-1.
In the first game, sophomore first baseman Jeff Schaper of Bemidji plated BSU's only run with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the sixth.
In the nightcap, junior Doug Peterson drove in the Beavers' only run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. BSU held St. Cloud's potent offense to three runs.
The Beavers and Minnesota State will conclude their four-game series Wednesday with a twin bill starting at 1 p.m.
The games will serve as the final trip to the Metrodome for BSU.
Tennis
The Bemidji State women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Minnesota-Duluth on Sunday at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center.
Cheyanne Maki and Farrah Steinke teamed up for an 8-4 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot and Kelli Christiansen and Miranda Milless topped the Bulldogs' No. 3 doubles team 8-4 for the BSU wins.
The Beavers take a 1-2 record into today's match against Montana State-Billings at Sartell, Minn.
