Northern State opened the scoring in both games and started the day by forging a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the first game.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Hayley Williams led off with a single to center. Williams then stole second on a failed pick-off attempt. With one out Megan Beard singled up the middle, advancing Williams to third.

Kayla Babinski followed Beard's lead, driving one up the middle to score Williams. Chelsea Cardinal kept the hits coming and singled to center, scoring Beard. The Wolves, however nailed Babinski at home to keep the score tied at 2-2.

Kelsey Saralampi retired six of the next seven Wolves to close out the next two innings. Courtney Anderson relieved in the seventh and went the rest of the way, yielding only one hit during her day's work.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth Beard singled up the middle and Babinski was hit by a pitch. Cardinal grounded to first for the second out of the inning, but Beard and Babinski were able to advance to second and third.

Pinch hitter Nicole Dupay followed with a ground ball to the second baseman but the throw to first was wide and Beard was able to score the winning run.

In the rematch Northern State scored two in the second and one in the third to take control.
