On the strength of a 16-over-par 300 Saturday, the Bemidji State University men's golf team continued its ascension up the leader board at the 2010-11 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship, sitting in seventh place after four rounds.
Chris Curb leads the Beavers with a 72 (+1) and is in 12th place after 72 holes of the annual event. Jim Foss matched Curb's 72 Saturday and is in 28th place at 319. Justin Johnson is 33rd at 323.
The unique conference tournament is comprised of five 18-hole rounds spread over six months. The first two rounds were played last fall while this weekend's final three rounds are scheduled for the par-71, 6,539-yard Jewel Golf Club in Lake City.
BSU's 324-319-308-300 - 1,251 (+115) leaves it 23 shots out of sixth place and Upper Iowa University (1,229). The Beavers hold a one-stoke advantage over Augie (1,252).
St. Cloud State continues to lead the event at 1,192 (+56) after a seven-over-par 291.
With 18 holes to play, the Huskies hold a three-stroke lead over Minnesota State.
Adam Fields of Wayne State is the individual leader. He finished play Saturday at one-over-par 285 and owns a 3-shot lead over Kyle Bahe of Minnesota State.
