The Mustangs built an early 12-4 lead in the game's opening seven minutes. The Beavers were able to battle back and win a sloppy first half by a score of 21-19.

Southwest State came out in the second half with an 11-2 run to give them a 30-23 lead with 17:18 left to play.

Bemidji State's struggles continued late into the second half, they still trailed by eight points with 2:53 remaining.

The Beavers were aided by a pair of 3-pointers from senior guard Anna Hebrink to cut the lead to 53-51 with 1:50 left on the clock. Hebrink finished with 12 points on three baskets from behind the arc.

Following a jumper from sophomore center Jessie Althoff, Bemidji State found themselves within one with 29 seconds left.

Hebrink's last-second desperation 3-pointer did not go in, and the Beavers fell short.

Freshman guard Morgan Lee led the Beavers with 13 points. She added seven rebounds.

Freshman forward Ellie Wessling recorded a double-double. She scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Bemidji State will return to the floor next Friday and Saturday when they host the University of Mary and Northern State at the BSU Gymnasium.
