Beatrice M. (Keezer) Antell, 78, of Mahnomen, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Sports Complex in Naytahwaush, Minn. Visitation began Monday and will continue until the time of services.
Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home of Mahnomen, Minn. assisted the family with Mahnomen.
She was born April 5, 1930, to Frank and Eliza (Armstrong) Keezer at home, near White Earth. As a child, she attended school in Pipestone and Flandreau, S.D. She was raised near Naytahwaush. She attended school for one year at the White Earth Mission School. In 1942, she married Issac Antell. They had three children. She worked as a seamstress for Naytahwaush Industries for many years while raising her children. After her husband's death in 1982, she began babysitting the Snetsinger boys. She babysat for nearly 20 years before she became a cook for the Naytahwaush Head Start Program. She retired two years ago because of failing health. She continued to make her home near Naytahwaush living near her family. She enjoyed being with children. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her "adopted grandchildren" from the Head Start Program. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo when she was able. She enjoyed caring for all types of animals and had several cats.
She is survived by her daughter, Deb (Carl) Morris of Mahnomen; sisters, Thelma VanValkenburgh of Naytahwaush, Clara (Gary) Zollner of Isle, Minn., and Arlene (Joe) Fairbanks of Bena; half-brothers, LaVerne Keezer of St. Cloud and Frank Keezer of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Clifford and Gary; five brothers and six sisters.
