Beatrice Carol Carlson, 71
Beatrice Carol Carlson, 71, of Jacksonville, FL died Monday, May 19 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
She was born Dec. 25, 1936 to Judd Wise and Crystal (Bennor) Wise in Hubbard County. She graduated from Akeley High School in 1954 and married George E. Carlson of Nevis June 2, 1956 in Akeley.
Between 1956 and 1987, they lived in Ely and Embarrass. She sold cosmetic and insurance products for many years in the Babbitt-Embarrass area. She worked in customer service for Prudential in Jacksonville before retiring in 1994. Since then she lived at her Florida home during the winter and at her cabin near 11th Crow Wing Lake during the summer.
While living in Embarrass, she sang with the Tac-O-Notes ladies vocal group. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 8508 in Akeley, the American Legion Auxiliary 0535 in Babbitt, the Lions Club of Akeley and also recently served as a volunteer at the Akeley Museum and Akeley Library.
Surviving are her mother, Crystal Bennor Wise Olson of Park Rapids; her sons, Ronald (Amy) of Spooner, WI, Lynn (Cindy) of Alpharetta, GA and Judd (Donna) of Moorhead; daughter, Betty (Darren) Klimek of Embarrass; her sister, Betty (Wally) Case of Aurora, OR; special friend, Jerome Herdina of Akeley; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Funeral: 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at Cease Funeral Home in Park Rapids.
Burial service: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at Argo Cemetery in Babbitt with Pastor Jeffrey Jones officiating.
The family has requested memorials of either flowers or donations to the MyeloDysplastic Syndrome (MDS) Foundation.
