BASEBALL: Moorhead tops Bemidji 8-6
MOORHEAD — Brandon Porter drove in two runs as the Moorhead Blues defeated Bemidji Post 14 8-6 in American Legion baseball Tuesday.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to rain.
Tyler Geerdes took the loss for Bemidji, which falls to 2-6 overall on the summer. Gabe Salander started and got a no-decision in the game; he went two innings before being replaced by Heerdes. Connor McNallan pitched the fifth and sixth innings.
Moorhead jumped ahead early in the game, with a four-run third inning and a three-run fourth.
But Bemidji rallied with four runs of its own in the top of the fifth and added two more in the sixth but that was all they would get.
Zach Schroeder and Mike Wiesmann each scored two runs for the Blues (8-9).
Bemidji returns to the field Thursday for a doubleheader against Fergus Falls at the BSU baseball diamond.
