Overall the Vets are 12-7.

They travel to Alexandria tomorrow to begin play at the Alex Invitational facing pool play tomorrow and bracket play Sunday.

Bemidji and Moorhead had divided their first two games on paper when they were rained out in progress in their twin bill at Moorhead.

At home the Vets left little doubt of who was the better team. Moorhead exited with a 3½-12½ league record, the half points coming for a game at Perham that was rained out.

Matt Schneider pitched the first game win with last inning help from Ryan Stevens.

He allowed six hits, fanned seven and walked two.

Bemidji banged out 10 hits off Justin Jenson who went the route, fanning two and walking six.

Bemidji scored in the second on a Mason Bellew's double and an error

Moorhead went ahead 2-1 in the third on two hits around a walk.

Bemidji tied it in its at bat on Kevin Murphy's single and Bellew's double.

It wrapped up the game with a five-run fourth. A walk, Cole Barwell's single and a double by Mitch Hendricks began the flurry. Hits by Murphy, Booster Russ and Collin Leif followed with Stevens driving home the final run with a ground out.

The final run crossed in the sixth on a walk, error and Steven's single.

Stevens came on in the seventh after a leadoff single to retire three straight and end the game.

Murphy, Bellew and Bardwell had two hits in the Bemidji attack with seven of the nine starters hitting safely. Jared Hendrickson was the only Gold player with more than a single safety.

Ernie Heifort and Zac Solheim combined on the mound in the nightcap with Solheim coming on in the fourth inning to get the win.

The pair fanned seven and walked seven while giving up nine hits.

Moorhead scored in the first on a pair of walks around two singes, the second free pass driving in the run.

Bemidji tied it when it came to bat on Hendricks' single, a wild pickoff, stolen base and Kris Berndt's sacrifice fly.

It went ahead 3-1 in the second on hits by Bellew, Jake Urban, Hendricks and Berndt.

Moorhead tied it at 3-3 in the fourth on three hits around a walk with Solheim coming in to get the final two outs. He allowed only two hits the rest of the way.

Bemidji regained the lead in the fourth scoring twice on Urban's single, Bardwell's double and Berndt's single.

Moorhead came within 5-4 in the sixth on a walk, single, sacrifice and sacrifice fly with Solheim getting the final two outs to strand runners at first and third.

Bemidji lessened the tension with four in the last of the sixth.

With two outs, Berndt, Murphy and Russ singled for one run, Leif tripled home two more and scored on Bellew's single off the pitcher's leg

Solheim allowed a leadoff double in the seventh but closed the game by fanning the final three batters.

Bemidji had a season high 17 hits with Berndt and Bellew getting three and Hendricks, Leif, Solheim and Urban two. Every player had at least one.

Urban and Chase Vogt will get the mound starts tomorrow in the first two games at Alexandria.
