Baseball: Bemidji Mudcats home Friday for key league test
The Bemidji Mudcats have a chance to gain valuable ground tonight when they face the Nashwauk Colts at 7:30 at BSU in an Arrowhead League clash.
Bemidji takes a 10-3 record into the game after gaining two forfeits from the Duluth Express who will not make up their double header at Bemidji postponed earlier.
Grand Rapids was 7-2 at last report. Bemidji will play at Grand Rapids Monday and at Nashwauk Wednesday with a home game here Tuesday with the Brainerd Bees.
Tonight's two teams divided a pair of 4-3 games earlier, each winning on its home diamond.
Paul Fenner, who picked up the win in the second meeting, will take a 5-1 mark to tonight's game. Coach Scott Seaton plans to use several pitchers to keep arms well rested for next week.
Tyler Norland (5-0) will be the starter Monday at Grand Rapids.
Sam Anderson (0-1), Ryan Sander (5-1) and Dan Bauer (1-0) are others who could see mound duty in the next week.
The Mudcats stand 20-6-1 overall.
