Baseball: Bemidji Legion roster filled with experience

BEMIDJI — The summer season for the Bemidji Legion baseball team was supposed to begin today at home against Alexandria but that doubleheader has been pushed back to June 25 at the request of the Alexandria coach.

The updated schedule finds Bemidji beginning its campaign June 16 at Thief River Falls. June also includes a trip to the Grand Rapids Invitational June 20-22, home doubleheaders June 25 (Alexandria) and June 30 (Nisswa) and a twinbill at Fergus Falls (June 26).

Home opponents in July include Moorhead (July 1), Perham (July 17) and East Grand Forks (July 19). The month also finds Bemidji visiting Detroit Lakes (July 7) and participating in the Gopher Classic (July 11-15).

The Legion’s roster includes many veterans of this year’s Bemidji High School team. That list includes Parker Lucas, James Hendricks, Collin Rutledge, Dan Johnson, Erik Fitzgerald, Tyler Geerdes, Tony Geerdes, Seth Anderson, Austin Weidemann, Lucas Goins, Ryan Hirt, Matthew Morgan and Thomas Revering.

Also on the roster are Connor McNallan who graduated in 2013 plus this year’s junior varsity players Ben Thompson, Nate Larson, Cody Anderson and Cameron Boen.

Nate Blumhagen is the head coach and Tyler Follis is his assistant.
