Barbara Jones Pemberton, 86, of Cape Girardeau, MO died Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born June 28, 1921 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of Dr. Andrew B. and Ethel Patton Jones.

When she was a young child, the family moved to St. Louis, where her father practiced medicine and was head of the neurology department at Washington University for many years. She graduated from University City High School and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vanderbilt University.

She and Donald D. Pemberton were married Dec. 1, 1945 in Caruthersville, MO.

She was a Girl Scout leader and member of Daughters of the American Revolution and DAC. She was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International because of her husband's membership in the Cape Girardeau Rotary Club for some 45 years.

Surviving are her husband of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Andrew J. (Julie) of Boston and Donald D. Jr. of Boulder, CO; two daughters, Nancy (Michael) Carroll of Park Rapids and Mary Ann (James) Bamford of Washington, DC; a brother, Andrew Jr. (Norma) of Springfield, TN; two grandsons and three granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James C. Jones, and a sister, Patricia Ingles.

Visitation: noon to 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia, MO.

Services: 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Interment: will follow in Williams (Pemberton Family) Cemetery near Iberia.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Northwest Minnesota Women's Fund.
