Barbara Jean Kappes, 61, of Park Rapids, died Friday, Feb 20, 2009 at Innovis Health Services in Fargo, N.D.
She was born March 8, 1947 in Park Rapids to John Robert and Mabel Lovis (Fegre) Knobloch. She grew up and attended school in Park Rapids, where she graduated from high school in 1965. She went on to attend nursing school in Brainerd and after two years she received her LPN license. She moved to Coon Rapids where she began her nursing career. She was blessed with two children.
She returned to Park Rapids in 1983 and in 1984 she began working at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. She continued to work as a nurse at Heritage Living Center until the time of her death.
She is survived by her son, Scott (Joyce); a granddaughter; a sister, Sandra (Mike) Traun of Fargo, N.D.; a niece; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her son, Paul; and her parents.
Honorary casket bearers: will be all the loving kids whom she has adopted and knew her as "mom."
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rapids with Rev. Donald Bird as officiant. Linda Szuszitzky will be the organist and Monique Hendrix will sing "Amazing Grace." A special CD musical selection will be "Go Rest High on the Mountain" by Vince Gill. The congregational hymn will be "The Old Rugged Cross."
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Inurnment: In the Spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids.
