Barbara Jane Fairbanks
Barbara Jane Fairbanks, "Gichi Manido Equay" which means "Great Spirit Woman", 64 of Bemidji, MN passed away on Tuesday, May 07, 2013 at her home in Bemidji with her family by her side.
She was born on April 27, 1949 in Red Lake, Minnesota the daughter of James Fairbanks and Verna (Hanson).
She enjoyed going to the casino and gambling, spending time with her grandchildren. She loved cooking and making sure everyone was fed. Barb enjoyed riding around and going to rummage sales.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; James and Verna, daughter; Rhonda Leigh Fairbanks, grand daughter; Baby Rhonda, sisters Veronica, Bonnie and Margaret Fairbanks, and one brother; Charles Barrett.
She is survived by her husband Roy "Butch" Beaulieu of Bemidji, sons; Carl Fairbanks, Sr. and Joseph Fairbanks, Sr. both of Bemidji, daughters; Janice and Amanda Fairbanks both of Bemidji, brother; Joseph Fairbanks of Cass Lake, sisters; Lois Manypenny of Bemidji, Judy Barrett of Red Lake, 14 grandchildren four of which she helped to raise, Ashley, Aaron, Brian, and Andrew Fairbanks, 7 great grandchildren other relatives and many friends.
A wake service for Barb will begin at on Thursday, May 9, 2013 and continue until the 2:00 p.m. service on Saturday, May 11, all at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Father Pat Sullivan will officiate. Pallbearers for Barbara will be Kenneth Beaulieu, Jr., Eric Wind, Sr., Hunter Parker, Troy Friend, Jr., James Fairbanks, Sr. and Rodney Headbird. Alternate pallbearer is Bill Beaulieu. Honorary pallbearers are Rhonda May, Doreen Rainey, Donna Mae Sumner, Shirley Beaulieu, Charlene Johnson, Arlene Fairbanks, Bonnie Smith and Mary Hanson. Interment will be in Sugar Bush Cemetery at Cass Lake/Mission immediately following the service.
