Bagley's Tyler George named Pine to Prairie Player of the Week

George helped the Flyers defeat Waubun, Clearbrook-Gonvick and Mahnomen in mid-December. Bagley extended that winning streak to four games last Tuesday when it thumped Fertile-Beltrami 73-51 to improve to 4-1.

The Flyers are averaging 71.4 points per game and yielding 49.2. After the first four games of the winter George was averaging 22 points.

In other boys basketball games last week Cass Lake-Bena stopped Menahga 81-55, Blackduck lost 77-70 at Bigfork and Kelliher-Northome toppled Hill City 82-67.

CL-B will participate in a tournament hosted by Crosby-Ironton today through Thursday. The other area boys basketball teams are off until January 4.

In girls basketball action last week Bagley improved to 3-2 with a 52-44 win over Clearbrook-Gonvick. Kari Skersick had 15 points in the victory while Katie Skersick scored 14 and Shawn Benson 13.

Brooke Wraa tallied 16 for the Bears. Joining her in double figures were Brooke Watkins with 12 and Whitney Rogstad with 10.

Cass Lake-Bena continued to struggle last week as the Panthers dropped to 0-7 with an 81-63 loss to Menahga.

Jordan Jackson scored 13 for CL-B while Stephanie Masten and Joy Smith had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Autumn Brunelle snatched 22 boards and scored eight points. Jackson also dished six assists.

The area girls basketball teams return to duty Jan. 4 when Bagley visits Thief River Falls, CL-B hosts Laporte, Blackduck entertains Clearbrook-Gonvick and Kelliher-Northome travels to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

The Bagley-Fosston hockey team earned a tie last week as it battled Kittson Central to a 0-0 deadlock. The Flyers travel to Pequot Lakes this week where they played Northern Lakes on Monday, tangle with Red Lake Falls at noon today and face Morris-Benson 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Bagley-Fosston wrestling squad resumes its season Jan. 4 at home against Deer River while Blackduck-Cass Lake-Indus visits Red Lake County Central on Jan. 6.
