In order to be considered for the Minnesota Key Award, a 4-H’er must be 16 years old, have been a 4-H member for at least 5 years and have gone above and beyond to demonstrate youth leadership. The Key Award encourages youth to grow and become outstanding citizens.
Anderson, a member of the Jack Pine Pals 4-H Club, has participated in two important skill-building clinics for 4-H youth: Youth Exploring Leadership & Learning Out loud, or YELLO, and Building Leadership & Understand, or BLU.
He has served as a county 4-H Ambassador, attended youth and adult volunteer trainings and numerous Clearwater County 4-H Leaders’ Council events and meetings.
During the 4-H Fashion Revue judging, he helped younger 4-H’ers learn more about the clothing and textiles project. He also has worked as a 4-H camp counselor at Sandhill 4-H Camp near Fosston.
Anderson has served as president and treasurer of his community 4-H club and as vice president of Clearwater County 4-H Leader’s Council.
He has also participated in numerous community service projects, such as highway clean-up. He has given presentations to local groups about 4-H programming and has been a positive advocate for the 4-H Shooting Sports and Wildlife Project program.
Anderson received a plaque Nov. 18 during the 2012 Clearwater County 4-H Recognition Event.
