Bagley High School one-act play headed to state again
Students at Bagley High School won first place at the Section 8A One Act Play Competition Feb. 5 at Red Lake County Central High School in Oklee, Minn.
Bagley High School will perform its play, "4 A.M," at the One Act Play Festival Thursday, Feb. 10-11 at St. Catherine's University's O'Shaughnessy Auditorium in St. Paul. This is the second consecutive year and the third time in six years Bagley students have made it to the state competition.
The One Act Play competition is an activity within the Minnesota State High School League. Teams must win first or second place at sub-sections to advance to the sectional meet, where only the first place team advances to state. At the state level, the competition is referred to as a "festival" where theater arts students can display their craft and celebrate the work of others.
Bagley's One Act Play is directed by Marilyn Hood. The show is an ensemble piece with 19 characters and a technical crew.
"I feel it is so important to provide the opportunity for students to participate in fine arts and I applaud the past and current administration for supporting our theater program at BHS," Hood said in a press release. "The opportunity for our student to perform... is truly a wonderful experience which they have worked hard to achieve. Our students will represent our high school and community well at the state festival."
Students participating in the One Act Play are Caitlyn Fultz, Kylie Stinar, Catrinia Paulson, Jayme Kaiser, Meagan Hargreaves, Emily Julin, Janelle Dunn, Tessa Edevold, Trey O'Bryan, Brady Laudon, Meghan Kaiser, Maddy Beckstrand, Whitney Pittman, Andrew Larson, Tim Swanson, Kari Brummett, Dalton Aakre, Taylor Anderson and Tony Berg.
