Bagley football team drops opener

BAGLEY – The Flyers dropped a 37-7 decision to Frazee in their football opener Friday while Kelliher-Northome defeated Cromwell 38-20 on the road, Cass Lake-Bena fell 28-7 at home to Warren-Alvarado-Oslo and Blackduck was outgunned 46-30 at home by Fertile-Beltrami.

Bagley’s lone score came on an 80-yard run by Kyler LaVine in the opening quarter. LaVine finished with 90 yards on 11 rushes to lead Bagley’s offense.

The Flyers defense was paced by Mason Clough who had 13 tackles.

Bagley travels to Cass Lake-Bena on Friday.

K-N will host McGregor Friday in its home opener while Blackduck visits Pillager.

Blackduck’s volleyball team fell 25-12, 25-18, 25-20 to Clearbrook-Gonvick last week and will shoot for its first victory today when it hosts Bagley at 7:30 p.m.

Following today’s battle the Drakes will have nine days off before they visit Bigfork.

Cass Lake-Bena dropped its opener 3-0 to Deer River and Thursday will visit Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

Laporte is 0-2 after falling 3-0 to Bigfork and 3-1 to Remer.

Today the Wildcats visit Red Lake and Thursday they will travel to Kelliher-Northome.

K-N will also visit Clearbrook-Gonvick today.

Bagley begins its season today at Blackduck and Thursday will travel to its neighborhood rival Clearbrook-Gonvick. On Saturday the Flyers will participate in a tournament at Ada-Borup.

Red Lake has two home matches this week, hosting Laporte today and Indus on Thursday.
