Badgers too much for BSU

The Bemidji State women's hockey team started fast, but could not match Wisconsin during the final two periods and lost 7-1 in the WCHA opener for both teams Friday night.

The Beavers led 1-0 after the first period behind a power-play goal from Annie Bauerfeld. The assists went to Erin Cody and Montana Vichorek.

But the rest of the game was all Wisconsin.

The Badgers outshot the Beavers 36-11 in the game.

Alex Rigsby had 10 saves in the win for Wisconsin and Zuzana Tomcikova had 29 saves in the loss for the Beavers.

The Beavers fell to 1-2 overall (0-1 WCHA) with the loss and will wrap up the weekend series with the Badgers Sunday at 2:07 p.m.
