Babe Ruth Jamboree set for Saturday
The opening Jamboree of the revised Babe Ruth League will be held Saturday at the Arena and BYL North diamonds.
With the switch to 13, 14 and 15-year-old traveling teams, the former Prep League has been elevated to Babe Ruth League status with the league champion advancing to the district Babe Ruth intact tournament in late summer.
The traveling teams will move up to the Babe Ruth All-Star playoffs.
The three Bemidji teams are made up of 43 players including nine 15-year-olds, 11 14-year-olds, 22 13-year-olds and one 12-year-old.
League games will be played Monday and Wednesday using the BYL North and South diamonds, the Arena diamond and BSU.
Walker will play its home games at Akeley. Nevis will use the Nevis high school diamond. Cass Lake will play all of its games at Bemidji.
Saturday's Jamboree will be a scrimmage type situation.
At 10 a.m., PBT will face Walker at the Arena and Valvoline goes against Cass Lake at the BYL North
At 11:30 the Moose and Walker meet at the arena while PBT and Nevis play at the BYL North field
At 1:15, Moose and Nevis clash at the arena and Valvoline and Walker at the BYL North diamond.
At 3, PBT and Cass Lake meet at the BYL North, Valvoline and Nevis at the BYL South and Moose and Cass Lake at the Arena.
Coaches are requested to turn in game reports to the tournament director after each game.
Regular season play opens June 7 with PBT and Valvoline meeting at BYL North, Cass Lake and Moose at BYL South and Nevis and Walker play at Akeley
