The newly formed women's flat track roller derby team, the Babe City Rollers of Bemidji, participated in their first bout May 1 against the Harbor City Roller Dames' Fresh Catch, winning by a score of 87-59. The bout was held on the University of Wisconsin campus at the Wessman Center in a double header including the Lacrosse Skating Sirens versus Harbor City Roller Dame's Nautikills.


Team members with leading scores included Brooke Wichman with 17 points and Maria Raukar and Karissa Korbel with 14 points each. The best defensive play in total blocks was held by Sara Bronczyk.

The Babe City Rollers welcome all female skaters age 18 and older, no matter wahtshape, size, style or current skating skill. Men are welcome to volunteer for positions such as referees or non-skating officials. The Babe City Rollers give back to the community by making donations and taking part in events that benefit charitable organizations in the area.
