Authorities suspect foul play in Ogema death

OGEMA, Minn. – Authorities are investigating a suspicious death in a small Becker County community.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office and the White Earth Tribal Police Department are investigating the death of a man, who officials haven’t identified, who was run over near 370th Street East in Ogema, authorities said. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. Friday near Kay's Corner in Ogema.

Becker County sheriff’s deputies determined foul play may have been involved and called the BCA for assistance.

The investigation is ongoing and the Minnesota State Patrol is also assisting the other three agencies.

The victim’s body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and formal identification, authorities said.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office would not release additional information on the victim.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokesperson Jill Oliveira said there was no additional information at early Saturday afternoon.

She said more information on the victim and circumstances surrounding the death would be available by Monday.

Ogema is about 60 miles northeast of Fargo-Moorhead.
