Author shares writing techniques

Author Bill Durbin spent Friday at the Schoolcraft Learning Community describing his writing techniques to the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade classes in language arts classes. Listening from left are Taylor Knute, Kali Benson and Hailey Kern. The class had an assignment to pick one historical piece of furniture or tool from their home and write about it, then using that item to create a story around that. Durbin, whose books deal with historical facts, is a retired teacher from Cook. Pioneer Photo/Monte Draper
