Aurora, Minn., man pleads guilty to pornography charges
VIRGINIA, Minn. -- An Aurora man pleaded guilty Monday in State District Court in Virginia to photographing a girl under the age of 18 in various stages of undress. Michael Gene Jewell, 34, entered a plea of guilty to possessing pictorial representation of minors and interference with the privacy of a minor under 18. A third count, dissemination of pornographic work involving minors, was dismissed.
Sentencing was set for Nov. 18, but Judge Gary J. Pagliaccetti ordered Jewell to first undergo a psychosexual evaluation, as well as a standard presentencing investigation.
According to the criminal complaint, A St. Louis County Sheriff’s investigator received information from a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy about a computer containing child pornography, leading to the execution of a search warrant at Jewell’s residence July 10.
Investigators found numerous photos of the girl, which appeared to have been taken by a motion-activated camera.
Jewell told investigators he was very ashamed of what he had done, the complaint stated.
