ATV mishap lands man in hospital
BEMIDJI - A man was transported to the emergency room after falling backwards off his four-wheeler onto the road.
Roger Lynn Hiller, 54, of Bemidji, was driving an all-terrain vehicle at around 7:50 p.m. Sunday southbound in a ditch along Bemidji Road Northeast, near Winter Sumac Road Northeast, before the incident occurred.
When Hiller attempted to drive out of the ditch and onto Bemidji Road Northeast, the front wheels of his ATV lifted, causing the machine to sit on its rear wheels and throwing Hiller backward onto the roadway, according to a Beltrami County Sheriff's Office report.
Hiller's ATV, then rider-less, continued to travel southbound for roughly 200 feet until it bumped into a vehicle heading northbound.
Hiller was transported by Bemidji Ambulance to the emergency room at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center and treated for a head injury.
No damage was caused to the vehicle that Hiller's ATV bumped into.
Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Bemidji Ambulance and Bemidji Fire Department responded to the accident.
