Arts scholarships, grants available
The Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, a component of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, has announced its 2010 grant and scholarship opportunities.
The BAAE will award $5,000 to schools, nonprofit groups or arts organizations in the Bemidji area.
A maximum of $1,000 may be requested to produce an arts event, organize a workshop, develop an arts organization, sponsor touring arts events or sponsor an artist in residence. Applicants that are not schools or 501(c)3 organizations must use a fiscal agent.
The Everett Wilimek Endowment for Orchestral String Studies will grant two $250 scholarships this year.
The fund was established by Wilimek's family to honor his memory, his love of music and his dedication to helping young musicians. Each year the fund provides scholarships for young people from the Bemidji area, ages 8-15, to study violin, viola, cello or bass, helping to pay the costs for lessons, training and instrument rental.
Applications for the BAAE grants and Wilimek Scholarships are available at the Bemidji Community Art Center, Headwaters School of Music and the Arts, the Region 2 Arts Council and the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, located at 4225 Technology Drive N.W.
Postmark deadline for the application is April 1.
