Church musicians summer recital series continues

BEMIDJI -- Bemidji Area Church Musicians summer recital series will continue at noon Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2220 Anne St. NW. The recital will feature two groups: a flute trio including Erin Riess, Katrina Stewart, and Kiki Schnackenberg and a brass quintet will including Kyle Riess and Nathaniel Barckholtz, Katrina Stewart, Rachel Barckholtz, and Daniel Schnackenberg. A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced. The public is welcome to attend. A freewill offering will be collected.

Bagley Art in the Park on July 12

BAGLEY -- The annual Art in the Park will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12 at City Park in Bagley. Local exhibitors and food and drink vendors will be on hand, as well as a youth dance camp from 10 to 11 a.m., youth art projects from 11 a.m. to noon and live music by Caige Jambor, a recent BSU graduate. The event is sponsored by the city of Bagley, the Bagley Chamber of Commerce and the Bagley Rotary Club.

Soap to perform in Park Rapids on Thursday

PARK RAPIDS -- Soap will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Second Street Stage, between Main Avenue and Highway 71 in Park Rapids. The event will be at Armory Square if it rains. Soap's music has influences ranging from jazz, blues and funk to progressive, psychedelic and electronic and merges it into dance-infused rock, organizers said in a press release.

Book signing with Bubany on July 19

BEMIDJI -- Minnesota author Midge Bubany will host a book signing for her book, "The Equalizer" from noon to 2 p.m. July 19 at Book World, 316 Beltrami Ave. NW. The book tells the story of how Deputy Investigator Cal Sheehan, with the aid of the Bemidji Regional Office of the BCA, solves the first homicide case of his career: a double murder in a central Minnesota county park.

Minnesota author to discuss work at Book World

BEMIDJI -- Rachael Hanel will discuss her book, "We'll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger's Daughter" at 1 pm. July 24 at Book World, 316 Beltrami Ave. NW.

A Taste of Broadway in August in Walker

WALKER -- "A Taste of Broadway," a dinner and musical show, will take place Aug. 18 at Northern Lights Hotel Event Center, 6800 Y Frontage Road NW in Walker. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and the A Taste of Broadway chorale will perform at 8 p.m. In its sixth year, the chorale will perform classic Broadway selections and will highlight four decades of Oscar winning songs, as well as introduce the ­Northernaires Barbershop Quartet: Rick James, Mike Kerrigan, Kelly Nelson and Scott Bruns.
