2 fellowships awarded to artists

BEMIDJI — The Region 2 Arts Council and the McKnight Career Development Fellowship program recently awarded $6,000 to two local artists, Cate Belleveau, of Puposky, and Kathy Gustafson of Bemidji.

The 18-month fellowship provides an artist with the opportunity for career development designed to add depth and advancement to a career in all disciplines.

Autumn art fest winners announced

BEMIDJI — Gallery North recently announced the winners of the Autumn Art Fest. Kim Truedson and Grace Garland tied for the people’s choice award and Winnie Thibault won best of show. This was the first water color art contest held by Gallery North.

BEMIDJI — "The Screamin’ Siren," an eco-horror short story, co-written by Roy C. Booth and Axel Kohagen, has been accepted by Chupra Cabra House Publishing for their upcoming Growing Concerns anthology. The pair’s ghost story, "Just Another Ex," will appear in Fresh Fea, an anthology by James Ward Publishing.

Booth and collaborator Brian Woods have received a contract from J. Ellington Ashton Press for "A Werecat’s Journal: First Life," which is book one of a proposed nine-part novella series titled "One Life Left
