Area students medal in Class A speech tournament
BLAINE – Area high-schoolers were among the medalists this past weekend in the 2013 Minnesota State High School League Class A State Speech Tournament.
Two Blackduck High School students won gold medals in the tournament. Matthew Jedlicka won first place in Serious Interpretation –Drama and Katie O’Rourke won first place in Serious Interpretation – Prose.
From TrekNorth High School, Hannah Sorenson won sixth place in Great Speeches.
Three students from Walk-Hackensack-Akeley medaled in the competition as well. Sarah Anderson won first place in Informative Speaking, Matthew Koring won third place in Humorous Interpretation and John Murphy won seventh place in Serious Interpretation–Prose.
