BEMIDJI — Several area students placed among top finishers at the state speech meet held this past weekend.

Participants competed in one of two classes, depending on school size.

Top finishers from the region were as follows:

Class AA

•Erin Jones, from Bemidji High School, finished fourth in Great Speeches.

Class A

•Kennedy Stomberg from TrekNorth finished fourth in Extemporaneous Reading.

•Hannah Sorenson from TrekNorth finished fifth in Great Speeches.

•Kristie Slindee from Blackduck finished eighth in Storytelling.

•Matthew Koring from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley finished second in Humorous Interpretation.

•Grace Steward from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley finished second in Serious Interpretation - Poetry.

•Sarah Anderson from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley finished third in Original Oratory

•Bradley Foster from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley finished sixth in Extemporaneous Speaking.

•Hailey Bruns from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley finished sixth in Informative Speaking.
