Cass Lake-Bena High School sophomore Cordelia Williams was awarded second place for her painting titled "Waterdragon" in the 2009 Congressional Art Competition for Minnesota's 8th District.

Park Rapids Area High School junior Greta Ertl was named the winner of the competition for her painting titled "The Path Within" and Kayla Stursa, a senior from Park Rapids Area High School, received third place for her painting titled "Determination."

The competition is an annual nationwide event sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus. Each year, students from across the country compete in local art events held in their congressional districts. Winning entries are displayed for one year in the corridor tunnel of the Cannon House Office Building leading to the U.S. Capitol.
