Red Lake golfer Rob Pemberton continued his strong spring Tuesday, earning medalist honors in the Northern Pines Conference meet at Castle Highlands.

Pemberton, who been the medalist in every meet he's participated in this season, shot 37 in the nine-hole event to lead the Red Lake boys to the meet championship.

Counting to Red Lake's scores were Mike Kingbird's 43, Corey Beaulieu's 46 and Joe Perkins' 48.

Rounding out the team scores were Cass Lake-Bena at 175, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley at 183, Blackduck at 185, Deer River-Remer at 207, Bigfork at 225, Northome/Kelliher at 254 and Northland at 255.

Ryan Erickson of Cass Lake-Bena was runner up at 41.

Other notable scores at Castle Highlands were Logan Oelke's 43 for Blackduck, Corey Staples' 43 for CLB and Zach Strandlie's 42 for WHA.

In the Northland Pines meet held last Thursday on the back nine at Ridgewood, Pemberton was co-medalist with Steve Sunnell of Blackduck at 39.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley won the meet at 181. Cass Lake-Bena finished second at 183, Blackduck third at 184 and Red Lake fourth at 186. Bigfork, DRR, Northome/Kelliher and Northland finished well behind the top four.

Ryan Erickson of Cass Lake-Bena and Brandon Tharp of WHA were meet runner-ups at 40.

In the Northland meet at Walker's Tianna Country Club last Tuesday, Pemberton shot 37 on the back nine in cold and windy conditions to claim medalist honors.

WHA won the team event with a 187. Red Lake was second at 189 and Cass Lake-Bena third at 192. Blackduck was fourth at 209 and the rest of the field was well behind the Drakes.

Tharp was meet runner-up with a 41.

Nevis 13, Cass Lake-Bena 10

NEVIS - The Cass Lake-Bena baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday.

Nevis' Josh Edwards had three hits and two home runs, including a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, to lift the Tigers to a 13-10 victory.

Mike Hanson and Caleb Fisher each had two hits in the game for the Panthers.

Cass Lake-Bena (5-1 overall, 4-1 conference) hosts Red Lake today, Walker on Friday and Nevis on Saturday.

Thursday's and Friday's game are set for a 4:30 p.m. start. Saturday's game against Nevis begins at 1 p.m.

Blackduck 7, Northome/Kell. 3

KELLIHER - Brett Mistic pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and one earned run in the Blackduck baseball team's victory Monday night.

Michael Dexter led the Drakes at the plate and was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Henry Snatislowsky pitched the complete game for the Mustangs. Evan Nelson finished 1-for-3 and scored two runs.

The Drakes went on to defeat Red Lake 20-1 and 21-1 in a doubleheader Tuesday and improved to 7-1 this season.
