Bemidji Memorial Day program

There will be a ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery. The service will then proceed to the Civil War section of the cemetery on Irvine Avenue.

Poppies to be given away

The Bemidji American Legion Post 14 will be distributing poppies throughout the city Fridaythrough Saturday. Community members are asked to wear a poppy in honor of fallen veterans.

Blackduck Veterans Service planned

The public is invited to attend Memorial Day services at the Blackduck High School at 10 a.m. Monday. Music, prayers and student speakers will be featured in the event.

Following the program at the school, Legion Post 372 Riders will lead a procession to the Lakeview Cemetery, where an everlasting service will be conducted.

After the cemetery service, attendees are invited for a lunch hosted by the Legion Auxiliary at the Legion Post.

Kelliher Area services scheduled

Veterans, family and friends are invited to attend Memorial Day services at Kelliher Public School at 10 a.m. Monday.

A ceremony at Fairview Cemetery will follow at 11 a.m. with military honors.

Lunch will be served at the North Beltrami Community Center after both events. Services and ceremonies are sponsored by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Kelliher. Call Robert Hoyum at 647-8424 for more information about the events.

Cass Lake Memorial Day program

The Cass Lake American Legion Post 284 will hold its Annual Memorial Day Program at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Cass Lake Legion.

The Honor Guard will also visit the following area cemeteries: Pine Grove at 10:30 a.m., Frohn at 11 a.m., Farris at 11:30 a.m., Highway 2 Rest Area at noon and Bena at 1:30 p.m.

Community members are invited to join in the choir and honor veterans.

Traditional powwow to be presented

A traditional powwow will be presented by the Band of Ojibwe Friday through Sunday. For more information, visit www.llojibwe.com.

Becida Memorial Day potluck planned

The 28th Annual Becida Community Memorial Day service is at 11 a.m. Monday at Fern Town Hall.

There will be a potluck lunch with sandwiches, beverages and tableware provided. Community members are asked to bring a dish to share.

Laporte Veterans invited to ham dinner

The Laporte Lions Club invites the community to attend a Memorial Day ham dinner at Trinity Lutheran Church 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Veterans eat free and others are asked to give a free will offering. All proceeds will be donated to project New Hope, a program benefiting veterans.

Memorial Day services

Memorial Day services will be held at the Laporte Public School at 10 a.m. Monday with taps to follow at the Laporte Cemetery.

Brief ceremonies will be conducted by the Anderson-Block Legion Post at 9 a.m. and at the Evergreen and Catholic Cemeteries at 9:30 a.m.

Island Lake Memorial Day services will be held at the Island Lake Cemetery on Monday 10 a.m. Services will include a National Anthem performance by Wendy Nelson and WWII veteran Bud Petrowske will make a guest appearance. Veterans’ names will be read with the presentation of taps to follow. For additional information, call Pastor Derek Claypool at 751-4506.

Nebish NEBISH – Services will also be held at the Nebish Township Cemetery at 11 a.m. Services will include a National Anthem performance by Wendy Nelson and WWII veteran Bud Petrowske will make a guest appearance. Buzzle Township The Buzzle Osterdalen Church will host a special Memorial Day service at noon on Sunday. There will also be a potluck dinner following a business meeting after the service. For details, call Marlys at 751-1996.
