Area football: WHA, Nevis, Fosston win
WHA, Nevis and Fosston were area winners Friday night in area football games.
The Wolves broke into the win column for the first time with a 34-14 over Blackduck dropping the Drakes to 0-4.
Nevis rebounded from a loss to Floodwood last week to beat Remer 28-22 in Great Northern West League action.
Fosston continued to roll, topping 40 points for the fourth straight week in a Valley Plains 45-0 rout of Mahnomen.
Elsewhere Bagley fell to Frazee 36-12, Hawley butchered Pine River 66-6 and Lake of the Woods went down 35-12 to Barnesville.
In 8-3A, Pequot Lakes romped past Crookston 45-0 while Park Rapids beat Roseau 21-7, Staples bounced Thief River 42-7 and East Grand Forks was blanked by Perham 40-0.
Sartell moved ahead in the Central Lakes with a 35-14 triumph over Apollo as Sauk Rapids fell for the first time, bowing 24-14 to St. Cloud Tech.
Brainerd dropped a half game off the pace despite a 26-7 win over Moorhead in a non-conference test.
Other league games found Willmar shading Little Falls 28-25 ad Rocori spilling Fergus Falls 13-7, dropping the Otters to 0-4.
Detroit Lakes leveled its North Country Conference mark at 1-1 with a 34.12 win over Duluth Central while Denfeld won its first league test 35-21 over Grand Rapids. East dropped a non-conference game to Hopkins 47-28.
Other games saw Cloquet beat Hermantown 21-7, Virginia beat Hibbing 35-6 while Warroad lost to Breckenridge 42-14.
