Area DNR officials invite everyone to meeting about Cass Lake Chain

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' Bemidji area fisheries staff invites anglers, business owners and anyone with an interest in Cass Lake and connected waters, including Big Wolf, Andrusia, Pike Bay, Kitchi and the Rice lakes, to an informational meeting covering a number of walleye-related topics.

The meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Pike Bay Town Hall, south of the city of Cass Lake on Highway 371.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

E Cass Lake: annual sampling under Fisheries Large Lake Monitoring Program;

E Cass Chain: adult walleye population estimates for all connected waters;

E Cass Chain: walleye fry natural reproduction estimates for all connected waters;

E Pike Bay: review of walleye stocking history and proposed revision of fisheries management plan.

This is an opportunity to learn about DNR Fisheries' ongoing sampling programs, specialized coordinated sampling of connected waters, some recent advances in fisheries management techniques and management implications for these important walleye fisheries.
