Area alumni men's basketball tournament a success

The second annual area alumni men's basketball tournament was held at the Blackduck High School April 14 as a fundraiser for the Blackduck boy's basketball program. Seven teams with players from all across the country showed up to battle it out.

The team who won it last year defended their title and came away with the championship for the second year in a row. They did have to battle some good teams and play some competitive basketball to defend that title.

The tournament brought in close to $2,500 profit for the boys basketball program to use to enhance their basketball skills. The high school team will use the money to participate in highly distinguished basketball camps and tournaments this summer.

Area sponsors were: Paul Bunyan Communications, Blackduck Collision, Mi Rancho, Blackduck Family Foods, Bogart's Service, DBA Aspen Acres Farms, Avon (Jo Lange), Britt's On Main, Cease Family Funeral Home, Deerwood Bank, C.O. Johnson Logging, Blackduck Dental, Frenzel Fertilizer, Frontier Repair, Bemidji Welders Supply, J&M Auto Body, Keck Sports, Kalvig & Associates, Northlander Gift, Hillcrest Supper Club, Insurance Services North, Blackduck Co-Op, WK Welding, Raphael's Bakery, Moon Pharmacy, Reality Experts, Forseen Excavating, RMS of Bemidji, 71 Mart, Randy's Repair, Northwoods Lumber, Countryside Restaurant, Grimes Reality, Scenic Auto Body, Beltrami Electric, Grant & Lori Mistic, Beck Auto Service, Timberline, Benson Timber Inc., Pepsi, First National Bank Bemidji, Giovanni's Pizza, Pour Willies, Slindee Wild Rice, Blackduck Reality, Blackduck Floral, Northland Timber, Barbwire Clothing, Sanford, and Blackduck Lanes.
