Antonie Willard, 93, of Bemidji, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Neilson Place in Bemidji.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Solway Bible Chapel with Rev. Brad Spaulding officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in the spring at the Solway Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
The pallbearers will be her grandsons, Loren Peterson, Keith Willard, Kyle Willard, Byron Willard, Barrett Willard, Andrew Willard and Alex Willard.
She was born Oct. 18, 1915, to Peter and Mary (Verwolf) VandenBerg near Armour, S.D. The family lived in various places in South Dakota and Montana during her early years. She married Roy E. Willard May 1, 1938, at the First Baptist Church in Bemidji. They farmed in the Solway area most of her life until her husband retired in 1980. She worked on the farm and raised her 10 children. She was a member of the Solway Bible Chapel, Mother's Group, and Women's Sunday School Class. She was a children's Sunday school teacher for many years.
She is survived by her children, Betty Peterson of Shevlin, Kenneth (Judy) Willard of Wray, Colo., Sharon (Larry) Neimoth of Wood River, Neb., Rebecca (Larry) Sloma of Fridley, Minn., Rodney Willard of Shevlin, Rachel (Richard) Drake of Grand Marais, Minn., Phillip Bruce (Wanda) Willard of Solway and Celia (Steve) Neimoth of Bladen, Neb.; sisters, Betty Marvel of Miller, S.D., Corlina Koranda of Kimball, S.D., Jeanette Moe of Spokane, Wash., brother, Fritz VandenBerg of Browning, Mont.; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; sons, Roy in 1964 and Lloyd in 1968; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sisters, Esther Patterson, Johanna Montgomery and infant brother, Cornelius VandenBerg.
