Anoka man shot in Beltrami County hunting accident

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent accidental shooting in the unorganized townships area of Beltrami County, north of Fourtown.

A 23-year-old man from Anoka, Minn., was injured in the shooting, which appears at this time to be an accidental hunting shooting, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

A 59-year-old Andover man admitted firing his shotgun at a flushed grouse in a thicket when the victim was struck by shotgun pellets. The victim was initially transported to a hospital in Warroad, then transferred to North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, where he was stabilized and flown to the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis via North Air Ambulance.

The victim's condition is stable at this time. The victim and shooter's identities are being withheld pending notification of family members.
