Annadell "Ann" Marie (Blackburn) Sandberg, 87, of Faribault, Minn., formerly of Bemidji, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born May 29, 1921, to Harry and Mary (Wesley) Blackburn in Bemidji. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1939 and worked as a dental assistant until she married Roy Sandberg in September 1944. They had one child. She was a housewife until her husband died in 1962.
She began to work in the St. Phillip's School kitchen and the Bemidji State University cafeteria.
Following her retirement, she worked as a foster grandparent and was the "Candy Gram" at the Gilfillan Center for a number of years. As her health failed, she moved to Faribault to be closer to her son and his family.
She is survived by her son, Michael Sandberg of Faribault; a grandson; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Katherine; brothers, James, Wesley (Mike) and Gene; and husband.
