Anna A. Manke, 89, of Vergas, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.
Anna Augusta Wischnak was born to Rudolph and Minnie (Kratzke) Wischnak on April 6, 1919 in Vergas. A lifelong resident of Vergas, Anna was also a lifelong member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Loon Lake in rural Vergas. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and married Michael F. Manke there in 1940.
Michael and Anna made their home in rural Vergas, where Anna helped on the farm. She also worked at Perry's, the Loon's Nest and the Sportsman Center.
Anna enjoyed dancing, gardening, canning, reading and quilting. She was an amazing cook. She liked to go on family trips and vacations with her family and with her friends.
Surviving Anna are her son, Maynard (Connie) Manke of Thief River Falls; her daughter, Betty Manke of Vergas; one grandson; and three sisters, Bertha Moltzan of Detroit Lakes, Adeline Scherbrooke of Pelican Rapids and Alvina Huntstiger of Vergas.
Preceding Anna in death are her husband, Michael; her parents, Rudolph and Minnie Manke; and one brother, Ernie Wischnak.
Visitation is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec/ 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, Vergas, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the start of services on Saturday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, Vergas, with the Rev. Robert Hinckley officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery-Loon Lake, Vergas.
