American Legion Auxiliary News
The Blackduck American Legion Auxiliary is pleased and proud to announce that Ashley Stomberg has been selected by the Department Education Committe as one of the recipients of the seven scholarships awarded by the department for the 2010-2011 auxiliary rear. She will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship.
We also received two applications for the Auxiliary Community Service Scholarship. Congratulations and best of luck to all our youth.
May 13 is also a spaghetti dinner from 5-7 p.m. by the auxiliary. This is also poppy weekend so proudly wear a poppy and support our veterans.
We will again be having our Memorial Day services and lunch. More details to come.
June 14 is Flag Day and we will again have a flag disposal and a meal to follow. More details to come.
July 22 -- save the date! We will be serving a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, with the proceeds going to Toys for Tots . Anyone wishing to donate a new toy or game may bring them that night or drop them off at the Legion when they stop in.
Last year we served 72 families and more than 170 children. We hope that by July it will be warmer our and our utilities will be less and we can give a gift to a child who is in need. You never know, Santa may even make a special visit, but remember, he knows if you have been bad or good!
We will also be recognizing our School Safety Patrol again this year with Certificates of Appreciation and root beer floats.
After our last meeting we had poppy posters to be judged that were made by the fourth graders. They do a great job and look for the posters around town.
Our next meeting will be May 16 at 6:30 p.m. We will have election of officers at the meeting. Hope you can all attend.
