American Consolidated Media's Hibbing plant publishes a shopper and four newspapers, including the Mesabi Daily News (http://bit.ly/11Ggpx7). The closure will mean the loss of 54 jobs.

The production will be moved to Forum Communications' new state-of-the-art production facility in Duluth. Forum is the parent company for the Duluth News Tribune. Duluth publisher Ken Browall says Hibbing plant employees will have a chance to apply for positions at the new plant. The number of available jobs isn't yet known.

Publication of the Mesabi Daily News, Hibbing Daily Tribune, Grand Rapids Herald-Review, Chisholm Free Press, and Manney's Shopper will move to Duluth April 1.
