Former Bemidji High School golfer Alyssa Williamson recently completed her senior year at the University of Montana by finishing 20th overall in the Big Sky women's golf meet.
A scholarship athlete at the NCAA Division I school, Williamson shot 80-76-77-233 at the Big Sky meet which was held in Phoenix, Ariz.
"Not giving up is something to be proud of and I'd have to say that Alyssa has been the role model for the group through this entire season in that respect," said Montana coach Joanne Steele.
"Alyssa struggled slightly through her sophomore and juniors years, and even through our fall qualifying," the coach continued. "It might have been easy for a senior to just coast through, but she made it her goal to make this Big Sky tournament team and she did so in a major way, never giving up. She has been a huge part of this team and we thank her for her leadership," Steele said.
Williamson finished the 2009-10 season with a round average of 79.9, four full strokes lower than her previous season's average.
Williamson's summer plans include an attempt to qualify for the Canadian Women's Open in Winnipeg.
