Alvwood Church hosts special meeting

Alvwood Evangelical Free Church will be hosting the Rev. Ken Downey for a special meeting Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. Downey recently completed a coast-to-coast trip across the United States on horseback.

As he traveled he spoke at church services, camp meetings and special events. Churches and individuals provided meals and lodging for him and his horse.

Downey ran Wilderness Learning and Character Building Camps and Expeditions in the Wyoming mountains in the 1970s and early '80s. In 1986, he joined the ministries staff at Oak Hills Fellowship in Bemidji.

Currently, he is a missionary at large doing evangelistic speaking and preaching and developing a Christian retreat in Minnesota through Trailside Ministries which he founded and which is based in northern Minnesota.

Refreshments and fellowship will follow the meeting.

Alvwood Free Church is located east of Blackduck, just south of the County Road 12-Highway 46 junction on County Road 131.
