Alvin "Spoody" James Bloom Jr.
Alvin "Spoody" James Bloom Jr., 44, of Ponsford, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids.
He was born Aug. 12, 1964 in Park Rapids to Alvin, Sr. and Theresa (Lussier) Bloom. He attended school in Park Rapids. He worked as a game warden for the White Earth RTC before joining the police academy in Arizona.
He married Renee in Osage in 1984. He was in law enforcement with Red Lake for one year and then moved to Ponsford. He was employed with Shooting Star Casino as lead security from 1991 to 1998. He later went to work for Leech Lake Gaming as security and worked his way up to gaming investigator.
He was a volunteer for Carsonville Fire and Rescue, going on both fire and ambulance calls.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Amanda (Luis Ruiz) Eischens of Ponsford, Damian (Vanessa) of Moorhead, Allena Gerving of Euclid, and Alisha of Ponsford; two grandchildren; special friend, Kim McMahon; three sisters, Arlys of Ponsford, Margaret (Lynn) Barten of Park Rapids and Alvina (Delmas) Fairbanks of Ponsford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Terry; and an infant daughter, Allison.
Visitation: 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11 at the Red Lake Community Center, Red Lake, and will continue from 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11 until the time of the service on Monday at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford, with Father Walter Butor officiating.
