Allyn R. Kendall
Allyn Roy Kendall, 74, of Bemidji, MN, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, Bemidji, with Pastor Linnea Papke-Larson officiating. Friends and family are invited to share a memory or story during the service.
Allyn Roy Kendall was born February 4, 1938 in LeCenter, MN at home. He attended school in Le Center, New Prague, Brainerd, Luvern and Bemidji. Allyn graduated from Bemidji High School in 1956. He enlisted in the Army in 1960 and received an honorable discharge in 1966. He graduated from BSU in 1968 with a major in Art and Industrial Arts and taught art in Red Lake, MN for twenty three years, before retiring to full time work on his tackle business. He was very impressed with the artistic talent of his junior and senior high students in Red Lake. Al loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. His hunting and fishing took him to many states and provinces including Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territory. Al guided for Take A Kid Fishing for twenty six years and enjoyed teaching young children how to catch fish.
Al is survived by two sons, Taylor (Deb), Farmington, MN and Cameron, Chula Vista, CA; brothers, Lloyd, Karl and Bruce; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy and both sets of grandparents.
The family prefers memorials to the Bemidji Chapter of Take a Kid Fishing or a Charity of donors choice.
