Allan "Butch" Morey

Allan "Butch" Morey, 72, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, January 19 at his home.

Respecting Butchs wishes, there will be no funeral.

Butch was born May 8, 1941 in Nymore, the son of Rowland and Doris (Ness) Morey. He attended Cloverleaf Elementary School and Bemidji High School. He worked at Kenfields Box Factory and then joined the U.S. Army in 1961 spending time in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1964. He then became a Merchant Marine, visiting ports in Japan, Italy, Vietnam, India, Turkey, Okinawa and Russia. In 1977 he came home to take care of his ill mother. In 1978 he became in independent truck driver until retirement in 2002. Butch loved to fish and tinker in his shop. He enjoyed having coffee with The Old Crew and taking care of his dog Emma and his cat Mike. He loved his nieces and nephews and loved to tease and joke with a great sense of humor. He loved family gatherings and good conversation and good food. He was handy and always willing to help his family and friends.

Butch is survived by one sister, Donna Kruse of Hayfield, MN; two brothers, Donald (Shelva) of Shevlin and Gerald of Bemidji; 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rowland and Doris; sister, Marlyeen "Mugs"; one brother, Charles "Chuck" and nephew Larry Samuelson, Jr.
