Alice Sabra Stevens, 97, of Park Rapids, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Care-Age Country Home in Park Rapids.
She was born Nov. 20, 1911 to Dano and Kate (Griffith) Dickinson in Verona, N.D. She moved with her family to a farm in western Hubbard County in 1927.
She married Roy Stevens on March 15, 1934. She and her husband farmed west of Park Rapids until 1941, when they bought a farm on the Hubbard Prairie and lived there until 1970. Upon retirement they built a home near Hubbard where she lived until entering Care-Age Country Home in December 2003. After selling the farm she was employed at Badoura State Nursery and Wonewok Conference Center. She was a member of Hubbard United Methodist Church, and for many years was an officer in the United Methodist Women. She and her husband were also fire wardens for over 40 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Manlove, of Park Rapids; a son, Robert (Elizabeth), of Park Rapids; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grand- children; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Mildred Anderson; and a brother, Roscoe Dickinson.
Funeral service: 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at Hubbard United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Walpole officiating.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment: Hubbard Cemetery.
