Alice was the fourth of 10 children born to Clarence and Hilda (Rakstad) Olson on Sept. 21, 1917, in Vining, Minn. She grew up on the family farm, where commitment to family and friends, faith in God, working hard, playing hard, church, music, the 10 commandments, and The golden rule were considered the facts of life.

She lived her lifetime with a passion for others, nurturing everyone that surrounded her, and leaving a very special footprint on the hearts of everyone that knew her.

Alice was quoted at her 80th birthday party, "I don't feel old at 80. Ask me again how I feel when I get to be 90!" Her energy and enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to everyone that knew her.

Alice will be always be remembered as a caring and loving mother by her daughter Mary (Stephen) Andrews of Detroit Lakes; her sons, John Peterson and Duane (Jeanne) Peterson of Bemidji; her seven grandchildren will remember her as the "go go grandma"; and her 16 great grandchildren will remember her as Grandma Pete. She will be remembered as a loving sister by her brothers Richard (Elaine) Olson of Henning and Buddy Olson of Clitheral; and sister LuAnn (Bisty) Bistodeau of Battle Lake. She is also survived by a very caring and special friend, Nora Johnson of Detroit Lakes.
